Bombers over Cape Gloucester
"Mitchell" & "Liberator" bombers of the U.S. Army 5th AF drop bombs which knocked out the Jap air field at Cape Gloucester, New Britain Island, just before it was captured by land forces under Gen. MacArthur. Immediately after the last Jap had been dispatched, American engineers began their task of making the airstrip serviceable for U.S. planes. Release "SOFTENING UP CAPE GLOUCESTER".
