Bombers over Bremen

ENEMY ACTION: As their small part of more than 500 bombers of the 8th AAF loosed more than 1200 tons of incendiary and high explosive bombs on the important port, industrial and railway city of Bremen on Dec 20th they encountered stiff enemy resistance with flak and fighter defenses. Captured in this unusual photo is an enemy fighter, probably an ME 110 from all outward appearance, intercepting one of our Boeing B-17 Forts and swooping around for an attack. Some of the veteran crew members described the anti-aircraft fire as the heaviest they had ever seen.
