Bombers over 5th Army

Bombers and fighter bombers have been out in strength laying down concentrated patterns of bombs on defended areas and gun positions in front of the Fifth Army. A constant attack is being maintained during the daylight hours by USAAF Mitchells, RAF Baltimore, SAAF Boston and Baltimores. In this zone, the Germans have mounted guns on every strategic height round the road to Rome, and it is the job of the Tactical Air Force to destroy these gun positions to pave the way for the Army.
