Boatmen near Machinato village

TO THE VICTOR BELONGS THE SPOILS - In this case it's food--native Okinawan vegetables being served on metal trays by stoic-faced native girls to the boatmen who proved themselves victorious in the annual regatta near Machinato village on the China Sea. The banners denote the cheering section for the reds vs the whites. Note the ancient-type canoe paddles and dress of the boatmen--not to mention the American style and blouses worn by the two waitresses. Okinawa, Ryukyu Retto.
