Cpl. Earl K. Koppit of Omaha, Nebraska, is ready to slide a pan of biscuits into the oven of a field range as Cpl. Elio Cecchi of Farmingham, Massachusetts, removes a tray of crunchy hot biscuits. Their "kitchen" is located in the bed of a 2½ ton truck. Hot biscuits were served to men of the 318th Fighter Group within 24 hours after they landed on Ie Shima, Ryukyu Retto. 4 May 1945.
