Belly Tank School in Southern Italy

The little "belly tank" school house in southern Italy has been opened for business. It is run by GIs of the 52nd Fighter Group of the 15th Air Force. The instructor in the photograph is T/Sgt. Anthony Pioli. As soon as the last Mustang has been sweated in from the mission of the day, as soon as it has been serviced and prepared for another day of combat, school is in, and the men who have flown the planes or serviced them come flocking for their lessons in the three "R's" and other related and advanced subjects.
