Bell P39 Airacobra pilots at Wau

Each man of this trio of American Bell P-39 Airacobra fighter pilots got an enemy plane to help boost the total bag to 23 destroyed Japanese fighters and bombers when an armada of Nipponese aircraft attempted a raid February 6, on Wau in New Guinea. They are, left to right: 2nd Lt. Robert N. Boucher of Elizabeth, N.J.; 1st Lt. Dugan V. Woodring of Noble, Okal.; and Capt. Fred E. Thompson of Abernathy, Texas.
