Battalion Command Scope At Salisbury Place

1943-08-13

The Battalion Command Scope in action during target practice at Salisbury Plane, Wilts, England, is operated by, left to right: T/5 Robert Seitz, Newville, Pennsylvania, (on the phone); Captain James F. McGrath, DuBois, Pennsylvania, and Captain Harold L. Miller, Lewisburg, Pennsylvania. These instruments are devised so that hits are registered, the results telephoned and correcting instructions given to the gun crews. The Command Scope may be operated many miles from the actual gun, and is usually taken as close to the target as possible. 13 August 1943.
