Barges landing supplies at Salerno

After the landing of the U.S. 5th Army on the beaches of Salerno, Italy the maintenance of supplies was a vital problem. This picture, made on Sept. 16, shows numerous barges landing additional supplies for the American forces. The scene is the Bay.
