B24 Liberator over Ambon

A Far Eastern Air Force B-24 Liberator bomber wings its way over the enemy held town of Ambon on the island of Ceram in the Netherland Indies. Havoc and destruction was wrought on the Jap installations in the town and shipping in the harbor. A string of bursting bombs can be seen in the lower center of the photo. When the raiders left the scene, smoke from numerous fires was rising to a height of 10,000 feet.
