B-29 Superfortresses attack Singapore
1945-02-01
One of the most amazing examples of accurate high level precision bombing ever recorded was accomplished on 1 February 1945 when Boeing B-29 "Superfortresses" of the 20th Bomber Command attacked the floating dry dock at Singapore, Malay Peninsula. The floating dock had been built in Great Britain and towed to Singapore; the Japanese gained possession of the vital installation when the British retired from the area. This reconnaissance photograph, taken several days before the attack, shows the dock housing a 460 foot freighter.
