B-29 Strip At Futema Okinawa

B-29 "Superfortress" strip being cut out of the crub covered hilly terrain at Futema on the west side of the southern half of Okinawa, Ryukyu Retto. This super bomber strip was con-structed by the 806 EAB's on 15 June 1945. The runway was 7,500 feet long and 200 feet wide, and the surface was made of crushed coral with coral rocks for the base. 30 June 1945.
