B-29 Crashed At Kunglai Air Field

1944-05-07

Boeing B-29, A/C No. 293825, crashed at Kunglai Air Field, China on 7 May 1944 while coming in for a landing. The crash was due to failure of the landing wheel brakes and a side wind which forced the plane from the runway. It hopped a five-foot ditch, washing out the front tricycle landing gear and causing the nose of the plane to plow into the ground.
