B-26 Marauders target Viterbo rail yards
The railroad marshalling yards at Viterbo, Italy, on the important rail line between Florence and Rome is the target of USAAF Martin B-26 Marauders of the 12th Air Force. Systematic destruction of rail, port and highway facilities is the forerunner of German defeat on the Italian front. The photograph demonstrates the technique of forming bottlenecks in Nazi supply lines by bombing freight handling facilities.
