B-26 Marauders over Ile d'Oleron

First medium bombers in the ETO to complete 600 combat missions, First TAC Martin B-26 Marauders of the AAF's oldest medium bomb group drop their high explosives through complete overcast on a troop concentration on the Ile D'Oleron off the west coast of France to reach the mark. The veteran Marauder unit, commanded by Col. Wallace C. Barrett, has amassed 57,000 combat hours in campaigns throughout the Mediterranean as well as the ETO, flying more than 12,700 sorties and dropping 18,000 tons of bombs.
