B-26 Marauders blast bridge at Pontecorvo

Flying through intense anti-aircraft fire, B-26 Marauders of the U.S. Army 12th Air Force blast the highway bridge at Pontecorvo, 15 miles inland from Gaeta, west coast Italian port, immediately behind the present battle line in Italy. This photo shows direct hits on the vital link in the German supply lines by 1,000-pounders from the American bombers. The converging roads shown are thus rendered useless to German forces facing the American 5th Army.
