B-26 Marauders attack Criel marshalling yard
CRIPPLING NAZI RAILROAD COMMUNICATIONS - The marshalling yard at Criel, France, controls traffic for the channel port of Dieppe, along with ports to the north via Amiens to Paris and to part of Belgium. B-26 Marauders of the USAAF attacked the southern sidings of this strategic point leaving the complete destruction pictured here! Key: 1 - locomotive shed and a similar building in the tranship sidings have been demolished. 2 - Through-rail lines cut in at least 20 places. 3 - Rail bridge approaches damaged by hits. 4 - approximately 700 goods wagons in the yards, with few remaining untouched. 5 - Oise River locks blanketed with burst; near misses damaged northern gate. 6 - damage to banks and river bed has caused mud and silt to build up in the river, thus affecting river transportation as well as rail traffic.
