B-26 Marauder in Central Italy

A North American B-25 Marauder bomber of the 1st Tactical AF is doing its part in the "Operations Strangle" slowly choking the Germans to death by smashing at communications and rail facilities in Central Italy. No through trains have moved to Nazi positions at Anzio or the Southern Italian Front south of the Pisa-Rimini line since 24 March 1944 as a result of the "Strangle Operations". This veteran bomber, with 50 bombs painted on the fuselage, representing 50 missions, is crossing the West coast of Italy after a bridge-busting mission near Florence. Behind the bomber a column of smoke can be seen rising from Calafuria, where other Marauders of the 1st Tactical AF attacked the West Coast railroad south of Leghorn.
