B-25 Over Indo-China

1945-03-29

Indo-China - March 29, 1945 - On the war path, one of the North American B-25s closes in for the kill over the DE "frigate", a relatively new type of Jap ship used for patrol and escort along the China coast. It has two 4-inch guns and many well-placed triple and single 25mm. machine cannon. This B-25 is one of 31 which spotted the hapless convoy. Originally a medium altitude unit, the Air Apaches was one of the first B-25 groups converted to low level bombing and strafing, developed their own tricks of skip bombing against shipping. 345th Bomb Group
