B-25 Mitchells over Balikpapan

Using gasoline jelly bombs against congested warehouse district at Balikpapan, east coast of Borneo, North American B-25 Mitchells of "Jungle Air Force" fly low over target. Warehouse in center of picture spouts dense clouds of black smoke as flames eat through roof. Attacks by these speedy mediums of the 13th AAF at extremely low level began in force against the "Ploesti of the Pacific" 16 June 1945, carried through the actual invasion of Balikpapan's beaches.
