B-25 Mitchells bombing Ishan

Typical of the terrain in the Kweichow-Kwangsi railroad zone in South China is this strike picture of the bombing of Ishan by North American B-25 Mitchells of the 14th Air Force. Picture shows (A) Ishan in flames (B) the Kweichow-Kwangsi railroad (C) the Lung Kiang with a valley floor of about 300 feet altitude and peaks running from 1500 to 2000 feet (D) main highway to Laying and Nanning to the southward and (E) the motorable road to Tienho on the north. Most of the cultivated land is in rice paddies. Landing places for aircraft are few and far between.
