B-25 Mitchells attack German Ammunition Dump

This is the first photograph released showing results of instrument bombing by 12th A.F. North American B-25 Mitchells. Attacking in spite of weather completely concealing their target, a German Ammunition Dump at Spilimbergo, Italy, about 55 miles Northeast of Venice, B-25 Combat crews saw confirmation of their accuracy when a column of debris and dirt-filled smoke broke through the "Ten-tenths" Altocumulus cloud cover hiding the exploding munition stores. It can be revealed that throughout the winter months the 12th A.F. air battle against German armies in Italy was continued by weather-defying flying men, who scored good results through instrument bombing.
