B-25 Mitchells attack Aulla

1944-12-28

An important factor in stopping the attempted German counteroffensive on the west coast of Italy late in December was this attack by North American B-25 Mitchells of the 12th AAF on enemy barracks at Aulla near La Spezia on 28 December 44. Hits were scored on the barracks with high explosive and fragmentation bombs, killing between 500 and 750 German and Fascist Italian troops.
