A North American B-25 Mitchell of the 12th AF, flying over the snow-capped mountains of northern Italy, on its way to hit a Nazi bridge at San Michele, on the Brenner Line on 22 January 1945. The Brenner pass is one of three vital supply routes left to the Germans in Italy. By cutting them, the 12th AF, continues "operation strangle," the pattern designed to choke the enemy to death at his fighting front by cutting his supply lines at the rear. 340th Bomb. Group.
