B-25 Mitchell in Northern Italy

The nose of this North American B-25 Mitchell of the 1st Tactical Air Force was sheared off by an 88 mm shell from a German anti-aircraft gun in Northern Italy, killing the bombardier and navigator. The pilot brought the plane back over its home base.
