B-24 wreckage after German war plant attack

An injured crewman lies stretched out in front of the wreckage of a Consolidated B-24 which returned from a U.S. A.A.F. bombing attack on a German war plant so badly battle-damaged that its gasoline gauge didn't function, and its motor went dead, causing it to crash on this U.S. Army 8th Air Force field in England. The crewman has already been treated by Flight Surgeons, and is being made comfortable by Medical Corpsmen just before being rushed to hospital in one of the base ambulances.
