B-24 returns from Japan strike

View of the area from "tower" showing a Consolidated B-24 as it returned from "strike" on Japan, badly damaged by flak, results were: 1 dead, 1 dying from crash landing, and 3 moderately injured. Dead and wounded were removed from the plane and taken to the 381st Station Hospital. A half hour after the crash landing, a Navy Corsair taking off blew a tire, and swerved off the runway crashing into the B-24 previously mentioned which was approximately 30 feet from the edge of near center of runway of the strip. The result caused a fire. The B-24 had 5 bombs left in its racks which exploded killing 4 and injuring 9 men standing nearby. 30 July 1945.
