B-24 over Budapest

Shadows of billowing oil smoke fell on the Blue Danube, (not shown in photo) when heavy bombers of the Mediterranean Allied Air Force struck at Budapest, capital of Hungary, for the first time. A giant Consolidated B-24 is seen soaring over the target area. Rail yards, an oil refinery, and steel and aircraft plants were hit in the attack.
