B-24 Liberators over Kowloon docks

Kowloon docks and railroad yards disintegrate as bombs of 14th Air Force Consolidated B-24 Liberators and North American B-25 Mitchells spatter area. Japs thought 14th's East China bases knocked out by Nip army, stemmed into Hong Kong harbor to escape threat of Nimitz's fleet. Chennault's bombers caught Japs asleep, wiped out docks, sank 32,000 tons of shipping. Enemy sent up few fighters. 308th Bomb Group, 374th Bomb Squadron. 16 October 1944.
