B-24 Liberators north of landing points

A few hours before the invasion was to start, U. S. 8th Air Force heavy bombers took over the task of bombing beaches north of the actual landing points to confuse the Germans. Between Fecamp and Cap-Gris-Nes, Consolidated B-24 Liberators and Boeing B-17 Flying Fortresses pounded coastal emplacements as feint. Here a Flying Fort roars over a beach area near Boulogne during an attack there 5 June 44.
