B-24 Liberators attack Taungup bridge

Before this 350-foot road bridge at Taungup was recently attacked by Consolidated B-24 Liberators of the US AAF Seventh Bombardment Group, it was an important link in the Japanese supply system in Burma. Over it the Japs moved food, ammunition and medical stores from the Prome railhead to their forward areas in the Arakan. Taungup town, as is indicated by the bomb craters, had been a target for other units of Eastern Air Command's Strategic Air Force.
