When German anti-aircraft gunners had knocked out his hydraulic system which controls a plane's landing brakes, this ingenious Consolidated B-24 Liberator pilot, member of a Liberator Group commanded by Col Luther F. Fairbanks, of Burt Iowa, landed his plane with two parachutes attached to the plane's waist windows to compensate for brakes. 446th 18 H.B. Group. 46685
