Smoke rises to 23,000 feet as this Consolidated B-24 Liberator of the 15th AAF leaves the target during the heavy bomber attack on the oil refineries at Ploesti, Rumania, on July 15. Continuing their effective smashes at the Hun's dwindling oil supply, our heavies scored many hits on the refineries, directly causing huge fires. 451st Bomb Group.
