LIBERATOR FIRES TANKER OFF BORNEO -- In the Makassar Straits, off the Balikpapan, Borneo area, a U. S. Army 13th Air Force "Snooper" B-24 Liberator circles a tanker it has set afire, and which later sank. The bomber was on a lone shipping sweep when it attacked the doomed vessel. "Jungle Air Force" planes have carried out an effective blockade designed to prevent oil and other supplies from the East Indies reaching Japan. 19 March 1945.
