ITALY - Its tail turret completely shot off, this Consolidated B-24 Liberator bomber limped home from Munich on October 4, 1944. Rudders and Fuselage were riddled by flak bursts, and two crewmen were killed and one critically wounded. The injured man was an aerial photographer. His camera was used for this photo, taken at an emergency landing field.
