28 May 1944, Lt. James M. Dobson's Consolidated B-24 Liberator of the U.S. Eighth AAF is shown a few moments after it landed at its base in England using parachutes as brakes when its hydraulic system had been shot over Germany. Fastened to the interior of the plane, the chutes were let out the waist window just before the wheels touched. 445th Bomb. Group. 42-95308
