This picture of a Consolidated B-24 Liberator bomber, taken as it crash landed at a 15th AAF base in Italy, was snapped by Sgt. Joseph LeClair of Lewiston, Mo., photographer with the group photo lab. The figure shrouded by the dust of the still moving plane is Sgt. John W. Russell of New York City, of the photo section who ran in for a close-up and when the bomber swerved in its slide, it narrowly missed the photographer. Date AC/AS, Intelligence HQ. A.A.F. Reel No.
