Air Service Command technicians have but to install the No. 1 engine and their job is done on this Consolidated B-24 Liberator that crash-landed recently on the shores of the Adriatic Sea in Italy after being severely damaged by enemy fire while on a mission. Note the hastily constructed runway which is to serve for the take-off of the giant bomber from the sandy wastes.
