B-24 Liberator attack in southern Borneo
One small cargo ship is obliterated by direct bomb hits which sank it, and a second boat is left burning and sinking in the Martapoera River, southern Borneo, after an attack by a 13th AAF B-24 Liberator of the "Snooper" unit. Such cargo ships are the only principle means of transportation left to Jep troops attempting to escape from Australian ground forces who have enlarged their holdings on Balikpapan.
