B-24 Liberator at Neunkirchen

"Spare Parts" Consolidated B-24 Liberator, which suffered battle scars in an attack on Neunkirchen on 27 May 44 is getting a new No. 3 engine. Left to right, crew members: S/Sgt. M., installing spark plugs in new engine; and Sgt. Cooper T. Bishop, air mechanic of Decatur, Ga., fitting plug leads in new engine. This plane is part of a Group which was recently commended by Gen. Doolittle for performing the longest first operational combat mission lasting 9½ hours, and has flown 37 missions in a two month period.
