FROM A 15TH AIR FORCE HEAVY BOMBER BASE....10 January 1944...Consolidated B-24 Liberator Navigator, 2nd Lt. Joseph P. Orley of Napoleon, N.D., examines the holes in his nose turret on return from a bombing attack on the airdrome at Mostar, Yugoslavia. Accurate enemy anti-aircraft fire penetrated the outer glass of the turret and shattered the thick inner bullet-proof glass shield. Said Lt. Orley as he examined the damage, "That safety glass is OKAY." Italy.
