B-24 IN FLAMES - A B-24 Liberator of the U. S. Army 8th Air Force's 2nd Air Division goes down in flames during an attack on the railway marshalling yards at Munster, Germany. The port wing is breaking off as the blazing fuel tanks leave a trail of fire 200 to 300 feet long. Even in its death throes the German war machine still deals out destruction to some of the heavy bombers that daily hammer it from above as the land armies close in.
