The crew members of a Consolidated B-24, attached to the 528th Bomb Squadron, 380th Bomb Group at Fenton Field, Australia, which crashed in the jungle use strips from their chutes to spell out H2O signifying to planes overhead that they were in need of drinking water. The men can be spotted by their shadows in several parts of the photograph. 2 September 1943.
