B-24 bombers over Wewak

A dramatic photograph of two Consolidated B-24 bombers as they fly over and bomb the Boram air-strip at Wewak, New Guinea. The crews of these Liberators are known as "Ken's Men" after a popular Fifth Air Force bomber command leader. Gen. Kenney's bomber command has all but elevated the airstrips in the Wewak area by continuous, efficient and thorough bombing raids over a comparatively long period of time.
