B-17s at Bassingbourne

Boeing YB-40s, some of the Boeing B-17s converted under direction of the Air Technical Service Command into bomber-fighters, parked at the 91st Bomb Group base in Bassingbourne, England. Extra guns were installed in these planes when an attempt was made in late 1942 to provide fighter protection to bombers flying into Central Europe. 15 May 1943.
