B-17's over Leros Island

Army Air Force Flying Fortresses (Boeing B-17's) bombed jetties, shore facilities, and cargo vessels in Portolago Bay, Leros Island, late in November, 1943, in a daring raid from North Africa. Bursts can be seen on the jetties and the ships hit in the harbor. The fires were visible for twenty-five miles. THEATRE #12 - Portolago Bay, Leros Island, Aegean Sea (BOMBED)
