Two officers of the 452nd Bomb Group examine a demolished Boeing B-17 on Poltava Airfield, Ukraine, Russia. Having just completed its first shuttle-bombing mission from England, this B-17 was destroyed on the ground in a perfectly timed and well executed attack by the German Air Force on the night of 21 June 1944.
