B-17 Flying Fortresses over Versailles

Bombs send up plumes of smoke from the rail junction at Versailles, France, as U.S. 8th AAF Boeing B-17 Flying Fortresses attacked 4 June 44. The famed palace there may be seen just below the right wing of the Fortress. Hits were registered on the flyover bridge and other installations.
