B-17 Flying Fortresses over Pola harbor

B-17 Flying Fortresses of the 15th AAF blasted harbor installations in the important naval and shipping port of Pola, 40 miles southwest of Fiume in Italy, on 9 Jan., and here are some of the fort bombs overhanging the water front. The harbor and dock areas and nearby Factories were pounded in a six-minute blitz. Heavy damage was done to submarine pens, adjoining shops, coral quay and sheds, warehouses, torpedo depot area, machine casting and forging shops and a torpedo boat and merchant vessel were damaged.
