SMOKE OVER PISA—This photograph was taken after bombs were dropped by U.S.A.A.F. B-17 Flying Fortresses on the historic Northern Italian city on and the Piaggio aircraft factory in the city were August 31. A double-track electrified railway line/xxx the target. The Arno River is shown here. The bridge and road at the lower left in the picture lead to the Leaning Tower, which was not damaged.
